Welcome to CSMS! Hi, my name is Jeff Gange and this is my 25th year in District #75. I have taught both 4th and 5th grades at Mechanic Grove. I've been a teacher at CSMS for seven years. While at CSMS I have taught both 7th grade American History and 6th grade Language Arts.
Please remember, the Language Arts/ Social Studies portion of your child's day has the longest span of class-time. The Language Arts period is 132 minutes everyday.

Method of Evaluation and Grading System:
Your grade for this class will be put in the grade book as either a “Practice” grade or an “Achievement” grade.
Practice Grades: Achievement Grades:
- Daily Participation and Preparation 1. Quizzes/Exams
- Classwork 2. Writing Assignments
- Homework 3. Projects
For each practice grade, you will receive either a Satisfactory Mark shown as an “S” or an “M” for Missing.
What is the Difference Between Practice Grades and Achievement Grades?
Work will be scored with an “S” when:
- the student has completed the entire task or assignment
- the task or assignment was done with integrity of effort
Work will be scored with an “M” when:
- the task or assignment is missing or was left incomplete
- the task or assignment was not done with integrity of effort
- the task or assignment was done incorrectly
For each achievement grade, the grading scale will be as follows:
A 100% - 90%
B 89% - 80%
C 79% - 70%
D 69% - 60%
F 59% & Below
