Author Raul the Third Connects with Students

Award winning author and artist Raul the Third is visiting District 75 schools on October 9 and 10. In addition to presenting to students at Carl Sandburg Middle School, he had lunch with a group of students to talk about his writing process and sign books.

Dangers of Vaping Town Hall October 17

A town hall to examine the effects of vaping is scheduled for October 17th from 7-8:30 pm at Libertyville High School Auditorium. The panel will include five experts on the dangers of vaping including Lake County State's Attorney Nierheim, Mundelein Chief of Police Eric Guenther, Respiratory Health Association Director Matt Maloney, Lake County Public Health Department Tobacco Programs Coordinator Lea Bacci and Adam Hergenrender, a young man recently hospitalized due to vaping.

Superhero Recognizes Super Sales!

Mild-mannered Principal Mark Pilut went all mean and green to celebrate the outstanding PTO discount card sales. This Incredible Hulk inspired students to “Live the Code” throughout the day. Sandburg students sold cards to benefit PTO initiatives. Go Tigers!

Local Entrepreneur Speaks to Students

Local business owner Tony Volpentesta, aka Tony Cannoli, spoke to 8th grade students in the Career Tech class at Carl Sandburg Middle School. Volpentesta told the students how he followed his passions into a thriving career. “My true passion is entrepreneurship. I do love being in the kitchen, however, my passion for being in the kitchen did not develop until my mid twenties. Once the two came together, it only seemed natural to open up tony cannoli,” said Volpentesta.

District 75 is excited to welcome the author and illustrator Raúl the Third to our schools on October 9th and 10th.  Raúl The Third is an award-winning illustrator, author, and artist living in Boston. His work centers around the contemporary Mexican-American experience and his memories of growing up in El Paso, Texas and Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.

CSMS Choir Room Makeover

The Choir room at Carl Sandburg Middle School received a dramatic makeover that was revealed to the choir students on Tuesday, August 27, What was once a small, cramped, dark space was repurposed into a beautiful choir room. The change was evident in the faces of the choir students as they entered the room for the first time.

Mark Your Calendars for Bratfest!

District 75’s annual Bratfest is on Friday, September 6 from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm at Carl Sandburg Middle School. Food is available for purchase. Additionally, there will be tons of fun for kids with bouncy houses, face painting, games and prizes! Community organizations will also be there with valuable information. Activity tickets are $1 and can be purchased at the event.
